Freelancer’s bio: Jane is a freelancer in Singapore who has to meet a new client to discuss marketing strategies for the first time.

Today’s co-working space: Found8 at Tanjong Pagar

Found8 Tanjong Pagar is located on the 23rd storey of 79 Anson, an office building along Anson Road. It is three minutes away from the Tanjong Pagar MRT station (East-West line).

If you’re working out of Found8, you’ll be within the hub of the office district and a stone’s throw away from 100 AM Shopping Mall, Tanjong Pagar Plaza, and popular hawker centres such as Maxwell Food centre. Since my client’s office is at Tanjong Pagar, this is a convenient spot for both of us.

The place:

2 pm: Step into the lift to head up to the 23rd floor. I have to admit, that sensation of going up to the top of the building gives me adrenaline and I am pumped up for a win. Since I’m meeting a new client for the first time, it’s essential to feel confident.

When you enter the Found8 space, you’ll be greeted with the high ceilings welcoming lots of natural light, with a view overlooking Keppel Harbour. Keppel Harbour is the heart of our trading hub in Singapore, so to have this view as a backdrop of my meeting feels like a power move already.

You can either book a meeting room or a hot desk there. Meeting rooms can accommodate small groups of 2-3 pax or up to a group of 8. They are also equipped with TV screens for chrome casting and have HDMI cables available. These are great if you want to host an investor meeting virtually or have a group brainstorming session. You can wind down the curtain blinds on room windows for maximum privacy.

I prefer to be in the lounge today for a more relaxed setting, so I met my new client in the middle of the co-working space equipped with posh-looking wooden tables and sleek chairs.

The entire setting looks professional and feels polished. This space is perfect whether you meet clients face to face or set up a virtual meeting for your investors.

In fact, one of the best tips I’ve come across is that the background must be as distraction-free as possible for a virtual meeting. Working at home is challenging if your roommates, spouse, or pets/children are potentially crashing into the discussion. A set-up like this makes you feel more comfortable knowing you have ultimate quiet to present your pitch. Check out the Deskimo blog for more tips on securing your investor funding via Zoom.

3 pm: Client meeting done! After my client leaves, it’s time to get some snacks! Found8 provides freeflow coffee and light snacks, and newspapers for reading. You also get to approach fellow coworkers in the lounge or pantry area. The possibility of landing a client or hitting up a startup enthusiast is pretty high!

4 pm: You can choose a hot desk in front of the panoramic view, equipped with power plugs on the side of the bar top counter. When you’re staring at the never-ending activity at the seaports, it’s hard not to feel motivated.

There is plenty of natural light since floor to ceiling windows surround the space. The air conditioning here is optimal if you are working long hours. It helps that there is a lot of natural sunlight streaming in from the windows, making working in the area feel a lot more comfortable.

5 pm: It’s time to head to the gym! My favourite part about working here is that Core Collective is just right downstairs, on levels 21 and 22. Whether you prefer working out at the gym or attending a class, you can find something that suits your fitness and wellness needs at Core Collective

If you suffer from backache after sitting and staring at your laptop all day, you can even book a chiropractic treatment. Or perhaps book one of their private sauna treatment rooms where you can sweat all your stress away. Sauna is supposed to help your muscles to recover faster and reduce your stress levels, amongst other benefits!

7 pm: Drinks and dinner! Since Found8 is located in the heart of Tanjong Pagar, I have plenty of options where I can dine with friends or colleagues. But I don’t have to go too far, since two restaurants are located conveniently on the ground floor.

The Hot Kitchen by Gastrolicious is a bar and grill restaurant with both indoor and alfresco seating. The menu offers a wide range of options, so even the pickiest friend can find something here. Pick from Western favourites like classic fish and chips and familiar Asian comfort food such as satay. It’s a good choice if you celebrate with your team or even for me, as I celebrate signing on a new client!

After that, if you’re in the mood for it, play darts at Forest Darts cafe and pub, located on the right side of the building.

If you need a quick fix, there’s a McDonald’s located right across the road. Or you can walk down to Tanjong Pagar complex, which is 7 minutes away, to get groceries instead.

It’s 9 pm, and I’ve got a productive day of work, exercise and networking done! You can also maximise your day by working out of Found8, available for booking on the Deskimo app.

Till next time, cheers!
